Current-sense amplifier for precision shunt monitoring
The Texas Instruments LMP8603MME/NOPB is a single-channel current sense amplifier from the LMP® series, designed to amplify a small differential voltage across a shunt resistor and output a ground-referenced signal. It operates from a 3 V to 5.5 V supply and draws 1.1 mA quiescent current.
The 60 kHz gain-bandwidth product sets the usable bandwidth for current sensing — adequate for DC rail monitoring and low-speed PWM loops, but not for high-frequency switching supplies above a few tens of kHz. Input bias current of 0.04 pA and input offset voltage of 150 µV keep shunt voltage errors low, allowing use with milliohm shunts. The 48 mA output per channel can drive an ADC input or a microcontroller pin directly.
The LMP8603MME/NOPB is offered in an 8-VSSOP package (3.00 mm width, 0.118" pitch), surface-mount only. The /NOPB suffix indicates lead-free (ROHS3 compliant) construction. Tape & Reel (TR) and Cut Tape (CT) options are available; the CT variant suits prototype builds where full-reel quantities are not needed.
