Surface-mount 7805 for reflow assembly
The LM7805SX/NOPB is a 5V fixed-output linear regulator delivering up to 1.5A in a surface-mount DDPAK/TO-263-3 package. This is the reflow-friendly version of the classic 7805—no through-hole pins, no separate heatsink bracket. Texas Instruments lists the part as Active, so it is a current-production choice for new designs, not a life-cycle buy. The ROHS3 compliance is standard for European and domestic builds.
Dropout, PSRR, and protection thresholds
Maximum dropout is 2V at 1A load. That means the input rail must stay at least 2V above 5V—7V minimum—under full load to keep the output in regulation. At lighter loads the dropout drops, but the 2V ceiling is the headroom to design for. The 80dB PSRR at 120Hz is the mains-ripple rejection figure—relevant if this regulator feeds an analog rail (op-amp supply, ADC reference) where 100/120Hz hum on the input would couple through. At 1.5A the quiescent current is 8 mA, which is low enough for most linear-regulator loads but not a low-Iq part for battery gear. Built-in over-temperature and short-circuit protection are standard 7805 features. The 35V input maximum is an absolute ceiling—do not exceed it even momentarily.
