I²C interface and 9-bit resolution — what it means for the bus
Communication runs over a standard I²C interface, with the sensor acting as a slave on the bus. The 9-bit resolution gives a temperature step of 0.5°C per LSB — adequate for over-temperature protection or fan-speed control, but not for fine thermal regulation where a 12-bit part would be needed.

The sensor comes in an 8-VSSOP package, also described as 8-TSSOP / 8-MSOP with a 0.118-inch (3.00mm) body width. This is a fine-pitch surface-mount package — the 0.65mm lead pitch demands a controlled solder-paste stencil and a reflow profile typical for MSOP-family parts. Built-in features for system-level integration
The sensor includes an output switch, programmable limit, and shutdown mode. The programmable limit lets the part assert an OS (overtemperature shutdown) output pin when the temperature crosses a user-set threshold — useful for a hardware interrupt to the host without polling the I²C bus. Shutdown mode drops the quiescent current for low-power idle states between temperature readings.
