Accuracy and temperature range for thermal monitoring
The LM74CIMX-5/NOPB: This digital local sensor resolves temperature to 12 bits (0.0625°C per LSB) over a -55°C to 150°C operating range — wide enough for industrial oven profiling, engine-bay monitoring, or cold-chain data logging. The accuracy spec is ±1.25°C typical across the calibrated test window of -10°C to 65°C, widening to ±5°C at the extremes. For most thermal management loops (fan control, overtemperature shutdown), the ±1.25°C band is sufficient; the ±5°C figure matters only if the sensor sits near the die's absolute maximum. The SPI output interfaces directly with any MCU SPI port — no external ADC or signal conditioning. The shutdown mode drops quiescent current to near zero, useful for battery-powered equipment that wakes periodically to log temperature.
