N+1 ORing controller for redundant power architectures
The Texas Instruments LM74800MDRRR is an N+1 ORing controller that drives back-to-back N-channel MOSFETs to isolate redundant power rails. It handles a supply range from 3V to 65V, making it suitable for 12V, 24V, and 48V systems in telecom, industrial, and automotive auxiliary power distribution. ON delay is 2.6 µs and OFF delay is 500 ns, which means the controller reacts fast enough to prevent reverse current during a source failure while avoiding nuisance tripping on brief transients. The 413 µA supply current keeps quiescent draw low in always-on ORing circuits.
Temperature range and deployment environment
Rated for -55°C to 125°C ambient, this controller is built for harsh environments — avionics, satellite power buses, downhole instrumentation, and outdoor telecom cabinets where the ambient can swing beyond industrial limits. The wide temperature range also covers military-grade ground vehicles and engine-bay-adjacent electronics.
