What the accuracy spec means on the bench
The LM70CIMMX-5/NOPB is a digital local temperature sensor from Texas Instruments, outputting a 10-bit temperature reading over an SPI interface. The headline accuracy is ±1.5°C across the -10°C to 65°C test range, widening to -2°C / +3°C at the extremes — that ±1.5°C band is tight enough for board-level thermal monitoring where you need to catch a 5°C drift before the part derates, but not tight enough for a precision oven reference.
Housed in an 8-VSSOP (also listed as 8-TSSOP / 8-MSOP, 0.118-inch width, 3.00 mm wide), the package is a standard fine-pitch small outline. The surface-mount footprint is shared across the LM70 family, so a layout done for the LM70CIMM-5/NOPB accepts this variant without a board spin. The shutdown mode feature drops the quiescent current for battery or power-sensitive designs — the SPI bus stays tri-stated so the line doesn't conflict with other devices on the same bus.
