What this automotive buck controller brings to the bench
The LM5141QURGERQ1 is a synchronous buck controller with a 3.8 V to 65 V input range, switching at 440 kHz or 2.2 MHz. It is AEC-Q100 qualified and rated for -40°C to 150°C junction temperature.
Switching frequency — inductor sizing trade-off
The LM5141QURGERQ1 lets you set the switching frequency to either 440 kHz or 2.2 MHz. At 440 kHz the efficiency peak is higher and the MOSFET switching losses lower, but the inductor needs to be physically larger. At 2.2 MHz the inductor shrinks to a small footprint — good for space-constrained layouts — though the gate-drive losses go up. The same controller covers both cases via a single resistor change, which is handy if you are qualifying one design across multiple power-stage sizes.
Package and mounting — 24-VQFN with exposed pad
The part comes in a 24-VQFN exposed-pad package (4x4 mm body). The exposed pad must be soldered to a copper plane on the PCB.
