12.95 W PoE PD with integrated switching
The LM5072MHX-80/NOPB is a single-channel Power over Ethernet (PoE) Powered Device (PD) controller with an integrated DC/DC converter, compliant with the 802.3af standard. It delivers up to 12.95 W to the load, the full power budget for a Class 0-3 PD under the 802.3af specification. The internal switching FETs (both high-side and low-side) eliminate the need for an external MOSFET pair, shrinking the BOM and board area around the 16-PowerTSSOP package. The 9 V to 70 V input range covers the standard PoE voltage (44-57 V) with margin for long cable drops and transient events on the Ethernet cable.
Industrial temperature and auxiliary sense
The 2 mA max supply current keeps the quiescent overhead low for the PD's own bias rail. An auxiliary sense input (Aux Sense = Yes) allows the PD to detect and draw power from an external supply when PoE is absent — useful for dual-power designs where a local wall adapter backs up the Ethernet power.
