9V to 80V supply — covers 12V, 24V, and 48V backplanes
The LM5069MM-1/NOPB is a single-channel hot swap controller from Texas Instruments that manages inrush current and protects against overcurrent and overvoltage on supply rails from 9V up to 80V. That span covers standard telecom -48V, industrial 24V, and datacom 12V backplanes with one part number — no need to qualify different controllers for different bus voltages across the product line.
Programmable protections, latched fault, no internal FET
Four programmable features — current limit, fault timeout, overvoltage protection (OVP), and undervoltage lockout (UVLO) — let you set the thresholds with a few resistors to match the specific rail and load. The latched fault behaviour (LM5069-1 variant) means the controller shuts off and stays off after a fault; the system supervisor or a power-cycle clears it. This is the right choice for supervised rails where you do not want automatic retry into a persistent short. There is no internal pass MOSFET — the controller drives the gate of an external N-channel FET. That puts the Rds(on) and SOA selection in your hands, which is typical for hot-swap controllers at these voltages where the pass FET dissipates the inrush energy.
