Output power and load flexibility
The LM4950TS delivers 7.5 W into an 8 Ω load in mono mode, or 3.1 W per channel into 4 Ω in stereo — the same device serves single-speaker portable speakers or dual-channel desktop audio without a second amplifier IC. Configured as a 1-channel (mono) or 2-channel (stereo) Class AB amplifier, the output type is set by the external feedback network, not a separate variant.
Package and board integration
Housed in a TO-263-10 (9 leads + tab) DDPAK surface-mount package, the exposed thermal tab on the bottom requires a copper land and vias to the ground plane to keep the junction temperature within the -40°C to 85°C operating range at full output. The supplier device package is DDPAK/TO-263-9; the tab is electrically connected to the negative supply rail, so the PCB layout must isolate the tab from other copper unless the rail is shared.
Supply voltage and protection
Operates from a single 9.6 V to 16 V supply — a 12 V automotive rail or a 2-cell Li-ion pack both fit within the range without an extra regulator. Built-in depop circuitry suppresses turn-on/turn-off clicks, and the short-circuit and thermal protection shuts down the output stage before the die exceeds the safe operating area.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Sourced through authorized and independent distribution; pricing and lead time are confirmed at quote against the BOM quantity.
