Volume, mute, and depop are all managed over the I²C bus — no separate potentiometer, no analog switch, no click-pop suppression RC network. The chip also packs short-circuit and thermal protection, so the output stage doesn't need an external crowbar or a polyfuse. For a two-speaker stereo design with a headphone jack, the LM4949TLX/NOPB replaces maybe five or six discretes.
The LM4949TLX/NOPB delivers 2.5W x 2 into a 4Ω speaker load and 190mW x 2 into a 16Ω headphone load.
Both are 2-channel Class-D amps with I²C volume control in small packages, but the LM4949TLX/NOPB adds a dedicated headphone output channel and depop circuitry. Pin compatibility depends on the specific PCB layout — check the respective datasheets for the ball-map alignment.
