The Texas Instruments LM4940TSX/NOPB is a Boomer series Class AB stereo audio amplifier rated for 6W per channel into a 4Ω load. Its 10V to 16V supply range suits it for line-powered audio equipment, automotive head units, and industrial audio systems where a clean Class AB output stage is preferred over a switching Class D design — simpler EMI management and no output filter. The part integrates depop circuitry, short-circuit and thermal protection, and a shutdown function, reducing external component count.

Housed in a DDPAK/TO-263-9 surface-mount package (9 leads plus exposed tab), the LM4940TSX/NOPB routes the main heat through the tab. The tab is the primary thermal dissipation path — the PCB copper plane under it must be stitched with vias to a thermal relief on the bottom layer.
