What this part is and where it fits
The Texas Instruments LM4925MM/NOPB is a Boomer® series Class AB audio amplifier that drives a mono speaker at 410 mW into 8 Ω while simultaneously delivering 40 mW per channel into 16 Ω stereo headphones. The supply range from 1.5 V to 3.6 V means it runs on a single alkaline cell, a Li-ion battery from full charge down to the protection cutoff, or a regulated rail. The -40°C to 85°C temperature grade extends its reach beyond consumer gadgets into outdoor handhelds, automotive cabin modules, and industrial control panels where the ambient can swing.
Built-in features that save BOM cost
The LM4925MM/NOPB integrates Depop circuitry that suppresses the turn-on thump that otherwise needs an external mute relay or series capacitor. Mute and Shutdown pins let a system controller cut the audio path or put the amplifier into a low-power state between use. Thermal Protection shuts down the output stage before the die temperature exceeds the safe limit — important in the 10-VSSOP package where heat sinking is limited. Together these features eliminate several external passives and a protection IC, which simplifies the layout and reduces the component count on a small PCB.
