Built-in features for clean audio and reliability
The LM4890MX/NOPB: Depop circuitry suppresses the turn-on thump that otherwise sends a DC transient to the speaker. Shutdown mode cuts quiescent current for battery conservation. Thermal protection prevents die damage under sustained overload or high ambient temperature — useful when the amplifier is driving a speaker inside a sealed enclosure.
The /NOPB suffix confirms ROHS3 compliance, so it passes lead-free reflow profiles without issue. The tape-and-reel option (TR) suits automated pick-and-place; cut-tape (CT) is available for prototype or low-volume builds.
It remains a current-production part from Texas Instruments.
