1W mono Class AB amp with headphone drive
The LM4865MM/NOPB is a Texas Instruments Boomer® series Class AB audio amplifier delivering 1W into an 8Ω speaker from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply, plus a separate 110mW headphone output into 32Ω. That means one chip handles both a small speaker and a headphone jack in a portable device — no second amplifier needed.
Pop suppression and thermal shutdown built in
The depop and mute features eliminate the turn-on thump that would otherwise hit the speaker, so the BOM can skip the external muting FET. Thermal protection shuts the amplifier down before the die overheats — useful when the 8-VSSOP package is packed into a tight enclosure with little airflow. The shutdown pin lets a microcontroller pull the amplifier into a low-current state between audio bursts, saving battery in a portable design. Volume control is integrated, reducing external pot count.
Supply and temperature range for portable gear
The 2.7V to 5.5V supply covers single-cell Li-ion (3.0-4.2V) and regulated 3.3V or 5V rails.
Supplied in an 8-VSSOP package (the 8-TSSOP / 8-MSOP footprint family), 3.00 mm body width. The surface-mount package is easy to hand-solder with a fine-tip iron — no hot-air station required — so a field-service tech can swap it on site if the board has accessible pads.
