Supply range and shutdown — battery-friendly
The shutdown pin pulls the quiescent current to near zero — useful for battery-powered devices that sleep between audio bursts. Thermal protection clamps the output if the die temperature exceeds the safe limit, which matters when the amplifier drives continuous tones into a low-impedance speaker inside a sealed enclosure.
