Built-in protection saves board space
Depop circuitry suppresses the turn-on/turn-off thump that otherwise needs an external muting FET or series capacitor. Short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown are on-die — no external comparator or reset supervisor. The shutdown pin lets a GPIO or power-management IC kill the amp when the system goes to sleep, cutting quiescent draw to near zero. Differential inputs reject ground noise picked up on long input traces, which matters when the audio source is a codec or Bluetooth module on the same board.
