Built-in protection and shutdown
The LM4809MM/NOPB includes depop circuitry to suppress turn-on/turn-off clicks, a shutdown pin for power saving, and thermal protection. The depop feature is worth noting — it saves an external mute circuit and avoids the pop that otherwise hits the headphones when the amplifier powers up. Shutdown drops quiescent current to microamps, extending battery standby time.
