Class AB stereo amp with thermal shutdown — 11 W per channel into 4 Ω
The Texas Instruments LM4752TS/NOPB is a Class AB stereo audio amplifier delivering 11 W per channel into a 4 Ω load. It runs from a 9 V to 32 V supply rail and includes thermal shutdown protection. The operating temperature range is -40 °C to 85 °C, suiting it for industrial or automotive cabin audio where the ambient can climb. Packaged in a DDPAK/TO-263-7 surface-mount case with a tab for heatsinking, it fits designs where board space is tight and a single supply is preferred over split rails.
11 W into 4 Ω — what that means for speaker selection
The 11 W rating into 4 Ω is the maximum continuous output per channel before clipping.
Mounting and thermal management
The DDPAK/TO-263-7 package has a large exposed tab on the bottom that must be soldered to a copper plane for heatsinking. Without a thermal pad under the tab, the 11 W output will trigger the thermal shutdown at high ambient. The tab is the ground path for the output stage, so the PCB layout should connect it to a low-thermal-resistance ground plane. The seven leads carry the supply, inputs, outputs, and shutdown control — verify the pinout against the datasheet before laying out the board.
