Shunt reference for the BOM — what the ratings mean
The LM431ACM3/NOPB is a three-terminal adjustable shunt voltage reference from Texas Instruments. It sets a stable voltage between 2.495 V (min) and 37 V (max) using two external resistors. Output current is rated to 100 mA, and the minimum cathode current for regulation is 1 mA — the load and bias budget for the shunt leg.
Lifecycle and compliance — no LTB risk
Texas Instruments lists the LM431ACM3/NOPB as Active. It is ROHS3 compliant. For a BOM line that needs a commercial-temperature adjustable shunt reference in SOT-23-3, this part is current-production and can be specified into new designs without near-term obsolescence concern.
