Load and bias budget for the system designer
The LM4050QBIM3-2.0/NOPB: The shunt architecture sinks 65 µA minimum cathode current and sources up to 15 mA to the load — the designer sizes the bias resistor so the sum of the load current and the cathode current stays within this window across the full input voltage range. Output noise is specified at 34 µVrms over the 10 Hz to 10 kHz band, which integrates to roughly 1 LSB on a 12-bit ADC with a 2.048V full-scale — the reference itself does not dominate the noise budget in a typical sensor chain.
SOT-23-3 footprint and layout note
Housed in the SOT-23-3 package (TO-236-3 / SC-59), the cathode is the centre pin and the thermal path — the PCB copper pad under the package should connect to the cathode net and carry the heat away from the die, not float as a thermal island. Surface-mount assembly with Tape & Reel or Cut Tape packaging options — the reel quantity suits production runs; Cut Tape works for prototype or low-volume builds without minimum order constraints.
Active lifecycle and compliance posture
