1.225 V fixed output — the exact reference voltage
The output voltage is fixed at 1.225 V (minimum/fixed), which is the standard bandgap voltage for many precision references. This makes it a direct drop-in for circuits that need a stable 1.225 V rail — for example, biasing an ADC reference input or setting a comparator threshold. With a ±2% tolerance, the actual output can range from about 1.200 V to 1.250 V at 25°C. For applications that need tighter accuracy, consider the ±0.5% or ±1% variants in the same LM4041 family.
12 mA output and 73 µA cathode current — load and quiescent trade-off
The shunt reference can sink up to 12 mA of output current, which is enough to bias a typical ADC, op-amp, or small logic load. The cathode current is only 73 µA, so the quiescent draw is low — important for always-on automotive modules or battery-powered designs where every microamp counts.
SOT-23-3 package — footprint and layout
The part comes in a standard SOT-23-3 package (also listed as TO-236-3, SC-59). The three pins are cathode, anode, and no-connect (NC). The small footprint saves board space, but the 0.95 mm pin pitch means careful soldering — reflow profile per the datasheet is recommended.
