1.225 V shunt reference — what it delivers
The LM4041EIM3-1.2 is a fixed-output shunt voltage reference from Microchip, delivering 1.225 V with a ±2% initial tolerance. It is a three-terminal device in the SOT-23-3 package, designed to provide a stable voltage reference for ADC references, comparator thresholds, and power-supply monitoring in space-constrained boards.
Output current and cathode current — the load budget
The shunt can sink up to 12 mA of output current. The minimum cathode current is 65 µA — below that the reference drops out of regulation.
The LM4041EIM3-1.2 carries a Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND) status. This means Microchip will continue to support existing production for a period, but the part is not intended for new design starts. For ongoing production, the BOM should be reviewed for a drop-in replacement or a design revision before the part moves to end-of-life.
