Fixed 1.225 V shunt reference in SC-70-5
It is designed for low-power bias and reference applications where a stable voltage rail is needed without a series regulator. The ±0.5% initial tolerance and 100 ppm/°C temperature coefficient suit it for ADC references, comparator thresholds, and power-supply monitoring circuits. Housed in an SC-70-5 (SOT-353) package, it occupies minimal board area and supports surface-mount assembly for compact designs.
Output current and cathode current budget
The shunt reference can sink up to 12 mA of output current while the cathode current is rated at 65 µA typical. The difference between the supply current through the bias resistor and the load current determines the device's operating point — the cathode current must stay above the minimum to maintain regulation.
The base product number is LM4041, which covers multiple voltage options and tolerance grades in the same SC-70-5 footprint. The /NOPB suffix indicates lead-free (RoHS-compliant) construction.
