Precision 2.048V shunt reference in a hand-solderable SOT-23-3
The Texas Instruments LM4040EIM3X-2.0/NOPB is a precision shunt voltage reference that delivers a fixed 2.048V output with a ±2% tolerance. It's a common choice for portable instrumentation, data-acquisition front-ends, and battery-powered gear where a stable voltage reference is needed without a separate supply rail. The SOT-23-3 package is small enough for tight layouts but still easy to hand-solder with a fine tip iron — no hot-air rework station required.
With 35µVrms noise over a 10Hz to 10kHz bandwidth and a temperature coefficient of 150ppm/°C, this reference keeps the voltage stable enough for a 12-bit ADC without additional filtering. The 70 µA minimum cathode current means it can run from a simple resistor divider off a higher rail, which simplifies the power budget.
