10V shunt reference in a three-pin SOT-23
It delivers a stable 10V output with ±1% initial tolerance and a 150ppm/°C temperature coefficient, all in a three-pin SOT-23-3 package. The shunt architecture means it behaves like a precision Zener diode — you bias it with a resistor from the supply rail and it sinks enough current to hold the output at 10V, up to 15 mA of load current.
Where the 150ppm/°C drift lands you
The 150ppm/°C temperature coefficient is the D-grade spec — the cost-optimized tier in the LM4040 family. That's fine for an 8-bit ADC reference or a regulator bias rail, but if you're feeding a 12-bit converter with a 10V full-scale, the drift eats into your LSB budget. For tighter accuracy, step up to the A-grade (100ppm/°C) or the E-grade (30ppm/°C) variants in the same package.
That means no last-time-buy notice to watch, no end-of-life scramble, and the part is still being manufactured by TI. The SOT-23-3 package is a standard footprint across the LM4040 family, so if you later need tighter tolerance, the pad layout stays the same.

For volume commitments, the active lifecycle means TI's own channel is also an option, but the independent route gives you flexibility on date codes and split orders.
