10 V shunt reference in a SOT-23-3 — what it delivers
Output current and cathode current — the operating window
The shunt can sink up to 15 mA while maintaining regulation; the minimum cathode current is 110 µA. Design the bias resistor to keep the shunt current within this range across the full input voltage swing and load variation — too little current and the reference drops out of regulation, too much and the part exceeds its power dissipation in the SOT-23-3.
