Fixed 5V shunt reference in a SOT-23-3
It is a three-terminal device that behaves like a Zener diode — it regulates the voltage across itself by shunting current through the cathode. The ±1% initial tolerance and 80 µVrms noise over 10 Hz to 10 kHz make it a workhorse reference for general-purpose ADC biasing, comparator thresholds, and power-supply monitoring in industrial and consumer designs.
The 5V output is fixed — no external trim resistors. The shunt architecture means you need a series resistor from the supply to the cathode to set the bias current; the cathode current range is 95 µA minimum to 15 mA maximum. Keep the bias current above 95 µA to stay in regulation, and size the resistor so the total current (load + reference) stays under 15 mA.
