4.096V shunt reference in a SC-70-5
It is designed for applications requiring a stable reference voltage, such as ADC references, power supply monitoring, and portable instrumentation. The ±1% initial tolerance provides adequate accuracy for many general-purpose designs without trimming.
Noise and temperature drift
Output noise is specified at 80µVrms over a 10Hz to 10kHz bandwidth, which is low enough for 12-bit ADC systems without additional filtering.
Cathode current and output drive
The shunt reference requires a minimum cathode current of 88 µA to maintain regulation, and can sink up to 15 mA of output current. This 15 mA ceiling limits how many loads the reference can drive — typically one ADC reference input or a few comparator thresholds. The bias resistor value must be calculated from the supply rail and the total load current to keep the cathode current within this range.
