It's a three-terminal device in a through-hole TO-92-3 package, designed for low-dropout, low-noise analog rails where a series reference would waste headroom.
Noise and temperature drift — the real-world specs
Wideband noise is specified at 35 µVrms over 10 Hz to 10 kHz, which is clean enough for a 10-bit or 12-bit ADC reference without external filtering in most designs. Temperature coefficient is 100 ppm/°C, so the output shifts about 0.3 mV over the full -40°C to 85°C range — acceptable for general-purpose precision, but a tighter TC part would be needed for 16-bit metrology.
