The Texas Instruments LM4040A41IDCKR is a precision shunt voltage reference delivering a fixed 4.096V output with ±0.1% initial tolerance. This is the grade for 12-bit-plus ADC references where the 0.1% ceiling keeps the full-scale error under one LSB for a 12-bit converter. The shunt topology means it behaves like a Zener diode — it sinks current from the supply through a series resistor, so the load sees a regulated voltage as long as the cathode current stays above 88 µA and below 15 mA.
Temperature drift and noise floor
The 100 ppm/°C temperature coefficient means the output shifts by about 0.41 mV per 10°C.
Package and mounting for dense boards
Housed in a 5-lead SC-70-5 (SOT-353) package, this reference fits into tight analog front-end sections alongside op-amps and ADCs.
