Core architecture and memory map
The LM3S9997-IQC80-C5T: The 256 KB on-chip flash and 64 KB SRAM leave room for a full TCP/IP stack and application logic without external memory.
Connectivity and peripheral set
On-chip connectivity includes Ethernet MAC+PHY, USB OTG, two CAN 2.0B controllers, and multiple UART/SPI/I²C serial interfaces — enough to serve as a gateway node in an industrial control network. The peripheral set also includes a quadrature encoder interface (QEI) for motor position feedback, PWM outputs, DMA for memory-to-peripheral transfers, and a 16-channel 10-bit ADC.
Package, supply, and temperature grade
Housed in a 100-pin LQFP (14×14 mm body) with 60 general-purpose I/O lines. Rated for industrial temperature range -40 °C to +85 °C, making it suitable for factory-floor controllers and outdoor equipment enclosures.
Texas Instruments lists the LM3S9997-IQC80-C5T as obsolete. The 100-LQFP footprint is shared by other Stellaris parts, but a direct drop-in replacement requires verifying the exact pinout and peripheral set against the BOM position.
