80 MHz Cortex-M3 with Ethernet — what it brings to the BOM
The Texas Instruments LM3S6C65-IQC80-A1T is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 MCU from the Stellaris 6000 series, clocked at 80 MHz. It carries 512 KB of Flash and 64 KB of RAM, enough for a modest Ethernet-connected controller handling Modbus TCP or a lightweight web interface. The 100-LQFP package gives you 46 I/O plus a 16-channel 12-bit ADC, so you can read a handful of analog sensors without an external converter. The peripheral set includes Ethernet MAC, I²C, SPI, SSI, UART, LIN, IrDA, QEI, and Microwire — covers most industrial fieldbus and sensor interfaces without glue logic.
Industrial temperature grade — where it fits
It is not qualified for under-hood automotive or downhole tools — those would need the AEC-Q100 or extended-range siblings. Supply range is 3V to 3.6V, so a 3.3V rail is the natural fit.
