50 MHz core with 256 KB Flash — memory headroom for protocol stacks
The 50 MHz Cortex-M3 core delivers enough throughput to run a lightweight TCP/IP stack (lwIP or similar) while servicing UART and SPI peripherals without stalling. The 256 KB Flash holds a moderate application plus the Ethernet stack and bootloader; the 64 KB SRAM provides packet buffers and runtime data. Designs that need more heap for large packet queues or multiple protocol instances should budget memory carefully or look at higher-density siblings in the Stellaris 6000 series.
100-LQFP package — layout and assembly notes
No special reflow profile beyond J-STD-020 is needed, but the exposed pad (if present on this variant) should be stitched to ground with thermal vias for adequate heat dissipation. The 38 available GPIOs leave enough pins for a parallel LCD or external memory bus alongside the serial interfaces.
No last-time-buy window remains open through the factory channel. Stock is available only through independent distributors and surplus inventories. No official pin-compatible replacement has been announced by TI; any substitution requires a board redesign and firmware port.
