80MHz Cortex-M3 with 384KB Flash — what the BOM sees
The LM3S5G51-IQC80-A1: Program memory is 384 KB of on-chip Flash (384K x 8), backed by 64 KB SRAM (64K x 8) — enough for moderate-sized control firmware with a real-time OS footprint. The 100-LQFP package (14x14 mm body) exposes 67 I/O lines and the full peripheral set: CAN, USB OTG, multiple UART/SPI/I²C, plus I²S, PWM, and a 16-channel 12-bit ADC.
Texas Instruments lists the LM3S5G51-IQC80-A1 as Obsolete. For existing BOM lines, this MCU is sourced through independent distribution against an RFQ.
Connectivity and peripheral set for industrial control
The connectivity block includes CANbus, USB OTG, IrDA, LINbus, Microwire, QEI, SPI, SSI, and UART/USART — covering fieldbus bridging, motor encoder feedback, and serial sensor interfaces. On-chip peripherals include brown-out detect, POR, DMA, I²S, PWM, and a watchdog timer — enough for a standalone motor drive or PLC I/O module without external supervisor ICs.
