80MHz Cortex-M3 with CAN and 384KB Flash
The LM3S5G31-IBZ80-A2 is a Stellaris ARM Cortex-M3 MCU clocked at 80MHz — enough headroom for a CAN gateway or motor-control loop without external memory expansion. On-chip memory: 384KB program flash and 64K x 8 SRAM, both adequate for a moderate RTOS application with a TCP/IP or CANopen stack.
CANbus, I²C, SPI, UART, and LINbus are all on-die — the part fits a distributed sensor node or industrial I/O module without glue logic. 16-channel 12-bit ADC, PWM, and quadrature encoder interface (QEI) support closed-loop motor control directly from the MCU. 67 GPIOs in a 108-BGA package — the 10x10 mm footprint is dense; fan-out requires at least a 4-layer PCB for the inner balls.
No new production is planned; the Stellaris family has been superseded by the TM4C series.
