Obsolete — sourcing through surplus channels
Texas Instruments has marked the LM3S5D51-IBZ80-A1 as Obsolete. For existing BOM lines, this part is sourced through independent surplus distribution — quantities are lot-specific and confirmed at RFQ.
Core parametrics and flash/RAM budget
The 512 KB flash is the full program memory — no bootloader carve-out to account for, so the firmware image can use the entire block. The 96 KB RAM split leaves room for a moderate RTOS heap plus stack without external memory.
The connectivity block covers CANbus, I²C, IrDA, LINbus, Microwire, QEI, SPI, SSI, UART/USART, and USB OTG — enough serial interfaces for most industrial control or sensor hub designs without external bridge chips. The 16-channel 12-bit ADC provides analog front-end capability without an external converter.
BGA package and board integration
Housed in a 108-LFBGA package with a supplier device package of 108-BGA (10x10 mm). The 0.80 mm ball pitch is manageable on a 4-layer board with standard via-in-pad techniques. Surface-mount only — no through-hole option.
