ARM Cortex-M3 core with 25 MHz ceiling
The LM3S316-IGZ25-C2: This core runs the Thumb-2 instruction set with hardware divide and single-cycle multiply — the 25 MHz ceiling is the flash-access limited speed, not the core's raw toggle rate. For a control loop or protocol stack that fits in 16 KB of on-chip flash, the Cortex-M3 delivers deterministic interrupt latency without a cache.
On-chip memory and peripheral mix
Program memory is 16 KB of FLASH (16K x 8), backed by 4K x 8 of SRAM. The 32 general-purpose I/O pins break out alongside a 4-channel 10-bit ADC, a PWM generator, and a watchdog timer. Serial connectivity covers I²C, SPI, SSI, Microwire, and UART/USART — enough to bridge to sensors, displays, or a host processor.
Package, supply, and temperature grade
Housed in a 48-VFQFN Exposed Pad (7x7 mm), the LM3S316-IGZ25-C2 requires a surface-mount reflow profile with the exposed paddle soldered to a thermal land on the PCB — this is the primary heat path.
