The LM3S2U93-IBZ80-A1: The 32-bit Cortex-M3 core delivers 1.25 DMIPS/MHz, so at 80 MHz the throughput is about 100 DMIPS — enough for real-time motor control loops or multi-protocol gateway processing.
Peripheral set — CAN, Ethernet, and serial interfaces in a single chip
Connectivity includes CANbus, EBI/EMI, I²C, IrDA, Microwire, QEI, SPI, SSI, and UART/USART. The CAN interface makes this part a natural fit for industrial automation nodes that talk on a CANopen or DeviceNet segment; the QEI (quadrature encoder interface) directly decodes incremental encoder feedback for closed-loop motor control. On-chip peripherals include brown-out detect/reset, DMA, I²S, POR, PWM, and WDT. The 16-channel 10-bit ADC samples analog inputs without an external converter — useful for reading potentiometers, current shunts, or temperature sensors directly. 67 GPIOs are available in the 108-ball BGA package. The 0.8 mm ball pitch on a 10x10 mm body means a 4-layer PCB with via-in-pad is the standard layout; a 2-layer board will struggle to fan out the inner balls.
Texas Instruments lists the LM3S2U93-IBZ80-A1 as obsolete. No official successor part number is published. The Stellaris family was acquired by TI and later phased out; there is no pin-compatible drop-in from TI's current portfolio. Stock is lot-specific and confirmed at RFQ — no blanket inventory held.
