The LM3S2739-EQC50-A2: A 3.3 V system needs a regulator (e.g., a 2.5 V LDO) to feed this part, and the regulator's dropout and accuracy must hold the rail inside that window across load steps. The I/O pins are not 5 V tolerant — driving them with 3.3 V logic without level shifting risks exceeding the absolute maximum. For designs already running a 2.5 V digital core, this part drops straight in; for existing 3.3 V boards it adds a regulator and level translators to the BOM.
No current-production successor with the same pinout and peripheral set has been designated — the Stellaris line was migrated to the Tiva C Series, but those devices use a different package and register map.
