Stellaris Cortex-M3 MCU — 50 MHz, CANbus, 64-LQFP
The 8-channel 10-bit ADC and 33 GPIOs suit sensor-fusion and motor-feedback designs.
This part carries a Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND) lifecycle status.
50 MHz core — timing and throughput
The 50 MHz core clock drives the Cortex-M3 pipeline and peripheral bus. At this speed, Flash wait states need to be configured correctly in the boot code — the default zero-wait state works up to around 25 MHz; above that, one wait state keeps the bus stable. The CANbus interface runs at up to 1 Mbps, and the UARTs can hit standard baud rates without external oscillators thanks to the internal oscillator.
Supply and temperature — rail design and environment
The 64-LQFP package (10x10 mm) with 0.5 mm pitch requires careful decoupling: a 0.1 µF ceramic per supply pin pair, plus a bulk 4.7 µF on the board.
