Texas Instruments lists the LM3S2620-IBZ25-A2T as NRND (Not Recommended for New Designs).
Cortex-M3 at 25 MHz — 128 KB flash, 32 KB RAM
Built around the ARM Cortex-M3 core, this 32-bit single-core MCU runs at 25 MHz. The 128 KB on-chip flash (128K x 8) and 32 KB SRAM (32K x 8) provide enough headroom for a modest control stack — think motor-control firmware with a CANopen stack, or a sensor hub that logs data over UART.
Peripheral set — CAN, I²C, SPI, UART, PWM
The connectivity block includes CANbus, I²C, IrDA, Microwire, SPI, SSI, and UART/USART — enough serial interfaces to talk to a CAN-based drive network, an I²C temperature sensor, and a UART debug console simultaneously. On-chip peripherals also cover brown-out detect, POR, PWM, and a watchdog timer, reducing external supervisor IC count. The internal oscillator eliminates the external crystal for many applications, though the BOM should still budget for a precision source if the CAN or USB timing requires it.
Industrial temperature — 108-BGA (10x10 mm)
The 108-BGA package measures 10x10 mm with a 0.80 mm ball pitch — a 4-layer PCB with via-in-pad or microvia fan-out is recommended for reliable solder joints. A 2.5 V rail is the nominal choice; the regulator must stay within this window across load transients from the flash read current.
