The LM3S1937-IQC50-A2 runs a single ARM Cortex-M3 core at 50 MHz, delivering roughly 1.25 DMIPS/MHz for control-loop and protocol-processing tasks that do not need a floating-point unit or a cache. At this clock, a 256 KB flash with zero-wait-state access at lower speeds may introduce one wait cycle above ~25 MHz — budget the flash-read latency when sizing interrupt response and tight loops.
Memory budget — flash and RAM split
256 KB of on-chip flash holds the application image and any constant data; 64 KB of SRAM is the runtime workspace for stack, heap, and volatile variables. A typical bare-metal or RTOS-based control application (sensor polling, Modbus stack, PID loops) leaves 40–60 KB of flash free after the HAL and bootloader — enough for moderate expansion but tight for a full TCP/IP stack with a web server.
Industrial temperature range and supply rail
The single supply rail spans 2.25 V to 2.75 V — a 3.3 V bus needs an external LDO, and the core logic sees no brown-out below 2.25 V thanks to the integrated POR and brown-out detect.
