Dual differential comparator for general-purpose signal conditioning
It is built for general-purpose threshold detection, zero-crossing detectors, and level translation in systems that need a simple, low-power comparator with a wide supply range. Each of the two comparators can sink or source up to 20 mA typical at the output, enough to drive a logic input or a small LED indicator directly. The output stage supports CMOS, MOS, open-drain, and TTL logic families, so it mates with most digital inputs without extra level shifters.
Supply range and quiescent current — design margin for multi-rail boards
The LM393APWRG4 operates from a single supply of 2 V to 36 V, or dual supplies of ±1 V to ±18 V. This wide compliance means the same part can serve a 3.3 V microcontroller rail, a 5 V logic bus, or a 24 V industrial sensor input without a separate regulator. Quiescent current is capped at 2.5 mA max across the full supply range. That is low enough to leave the comparator powered continuously in a battery-backed system without draining the standby supply.
