Dual comparator for general-purpose signal conditioning
It integrates two independent comparator circuits in a single 8-pin PDIP package, each with an open-collector output stage that can sink up to 20 mA typical. The wide supply range from 2 V to 36 V single supply, or ±1 V to ±18 V dual supplies, makes it suitable for interfacing between different voltage domains in industrial control, power supply monitoring, and threshold detection circuits. With a maximum input offset voltage of 2 mV at 30 V and a maximum input bias current of 0.25 µA at 5 V, the LM393APG4 provides adequate precision for general-purpose comparator applications without the cost of precision-grade parts.
Supply flexibility and quiescent budget
The 2 V to 36 V single-supply range covers 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V, and 24 V industrial rails without needing a separate regulator. The maximum quiescent current of 2.5 mA per device is the total for both comparators — budget this into the system power calculation for always-on monitoring functions. The open-collector output type (CMOS, MOS, TTL compatible) allows wired-OR connections and level shifting to higher or lower voltage logic families. The 20 mA typical output sink current drives relays, LEDs, or logic inputs directly.

The 8-DIP (0.300", 7.62mm) through-hole package with 8-PDIP supplier device package designation is suited for prototyping, low-volume production, or designs where wave soldering is preferred over reflow. The 0.100-inch pin pitch is breadboard- and perfboard-friendly.
