Product details

Fixed 2.5 V shunt reference in a TO-92-3 package

The Texas Instruments LM385Z-2.5/NOPB is a micropower 2.5 V shunt voltage reference in a three-lead TO-92-3 through-hole package. It delivers a fixed 2.5 V output with ±3% initial tolerance and can source up to 20 mA while operating from a cathode current as low as 20 µA.

The 20 mA output current rating sets the maximum load the shunt can drive. In a typical shunt configuration, the series resistor from the supply to the reference must be sized so that the total current (load plus cathode current) stays within the 20 mA ceiling and above the 20 µA minimum cathode current to maintain regulation. A 120 µVrms noise spec over 10 Hz to 10 kHz is low enough for most 8- to 12-bit ADC reference applications.
