Boost regulator for multi-string backlight
The LM36274YFFR is a 4-channel DC-DC boost regulator from Texas Instruments, purpose-built for driving LED backlight strings in displays up to 29V output per channel. Each of the four outputs delivers up to 30 mA, making it a fit for small-to-medium LCD panels where the forward voltage of the LED string lands within the boost converter's compliance range.
Dimming flexibility and package reality
Dimming control is available through three interfaces — analog, I²C, and PWM — giving the system architect the option to trade off resolution against bus overhead depending on the host controller's peripheral set. Housed in a 24-DSBGA package measuring 2.59 mm x 1.89 mm, the LM36274YFFR demands a board-level layout that accounts for the fine-pitch BGA footprint and the thermal path through the substrate vias.
The part is ROHS3 compliant, which satisfies the material restriction requirements for EU and most global markets without additional exemption documentation.
