What the 10 mV/°C output means on the bench
The LM35DT/NOPB outputs 10 mV for every degree Celsius — at 25°C the pin reads 250 mV, no scaling resistor needed. That direct-read relationship is the whole point of the LM35 family: you measure the voltage and the millivolt reading IS the temperature. Rated accuracy is ±1.5°C at 25°C, which is tight enough for most local ambient monitoring and process temperature checks. The 0°C to 100°C sensing range covers the common industrial and lab band — think heatsink temp, enclosure air, or fluid lines that stay above freezing.
Supply rail flexibility and package fit
The 4V to 30V supply range means this sensor runs directly off a 5V logic rail, a 12V industrial bus, or a 24V panel supply without an intermediate regulator. That eliminates a BOM line in many designs. TO-220-3 through-hole package — three leads, tab for thermal contact. The metal tab is the heat path; bolting it to a heatsink or chassis gives the best thermal coupling to the measured surface. The same footprint serves breadboard prototyping and production PCB assembly.
