Parametric fit for general-purpose signal chains
The LM358PW: Two independent op-amp channels in a single 8-TSSOP package, each drawing 500 µA supply current — the quiescent draw stays under 1 mA total, making this a fit for multi-channel battery-powered or loop-powered sensor interfaces where every milliamp counts. Gain-bandwidth product of 700 kHz with a 0.3 V/µs slew rate sets the usable signal bandwidth below roughly 100 kHz for a gain-of-10 stage — adequate for audio-frequency filtering, DC offset correction, or slow transducer amplification, but not for video or fast ADC drivers. Supply span from 3 V to 30 V single or dual supply means the same BOM position works across a 3.3 V MCU rail, a 5 V industrial bus, or a ±15 V analog backplane without a regulator change. Input offset voltage is 3 mV typical, input bias current 20 nA — both moderate figures that suit non-critical DC-coupled stages; for precision below 1 mV or sub-nanoamp bias, a chopper or FET-input op-amp would be needed. Output current capability of 40 mA per channel lets the op-amp drive a 100-ohm load to within 1 V of the rails — enough for a headphone driver or a small relay coil with a flyback diode, but not for a power stage.
Package and temperature grade
Not rated for industrial or automotive ambient; an LM358 variant in a wider-temp package (e.g., LM358PWR with -40°C to 125°C) would be needed for outdoor or under-hood deployment.
