Boost LED driver for two-channel backlight — what the ratings mean
The LM3502ITL-16/NOPB is a DC-DC boost regulator with integrated switch, designed to drive two LED strings for backlight applications. The 16 V output ceiling allows series strings of up to four white LEDs per channel, depending on forward voltage. The 400 mA switch current rating sets the total power budget — at 16 V out, the maximum deliverable power is about 6.4 W before the switch limits, though the actual LED current per channel depends on the inductor and sense resistor. PWM dimming input is on the enable pin; the 1 MHz switching frequency keeps the inductor small — typically 4.7 µH to 10 µH — which helps fit the 10-TµSMD (1.9x2.07 mm) package on a compact display PCB.
Because the part is obsolete, it is not stocked in volume by franchised distributors.
Package and footprint — 10-TµSMD layout notes
The 10-TµSMD (1.9x2.07 mm) package is a wafer-level chip-scale package — the solder balls are the only pads.
